Janine Garrett is the Founder and former CEO of Charm Health, Australia’s leading supplier of specialist oncology eHealth systems.? Recently acquired by The Citadel Group, Charm Health now supports more than 100 facilities throughout Australia and New Zealand in the delivery of quality cancer care, providing a suite of solutions that mitigate compliance, clinical, financial and administrative risk.
Janine began her career as a pharmacist working in both community and hospital pharmacies. As a director of a large Queensland Public Hospital, Janine recognised the significant risks associated with paper-based prescribing of chemotherapy. After completing a Masters of Information Technology, she set out to develop a software solution that would help coordinate the intricate treatment programs of patients suffering complex and chronic diseases such as cancer and end-stage renal disease. Janine’s experience in pharmacy management inspired her to develop a system that would improve accuracy, clarity, and safety, and take some workload off a hospital system stretched to the limit by an ageing population. Across Australia, more than 65,000 patients have had their cancer treatment managed by her system.
Janine was commended at Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Awards, being named the 2012 Northern Region Technology category winner. This award is in addition to Janine receiving the Queensland Government’s Women in Business Smart State – Smart Women Award (2006), the Women in Business Technology Award (2008), the Pearcey Queensland Entrepreneur Award (2011), and being named as a Brisbane finalist in the 2011 Telstra Business Women’s Awards.
Since stepping back from an active role in the company to spend time with her husband and three children, Janine has continued to serve on the board of Charm Health up until its recent acquisition. She has also just returned from a year sailing the Caribbean with her family and excited to be involved in helping other companies on their growth journey.
Janine holds a Bachelor of Pharmacy from Queensland University, and a Masters of Information Technology from Bond University.
